Greetings Thunderhoops family!
We hope everyone is staying safe, and adjusting to the ever changing new normal.
As you may be aware, the Provincial Government has announced the closure of overnight camps in Ontario for the summer of 2020. Day camps will have to follow a strict protocol that includes physical distancing. Due to the nature of basketball, it would be impossible to keep campers apart and safe.
To ensure the safety of our campers, coaches and support staff, Thunderhoops Basketball Camp will be cancelled for this year. This would have been our 27th summer running Thunderhoops, and we will miss seeing your smiling faces.
We encourage you to keep working on your game. Don’t let your skills fade, now is the time you can separate yourself from the pack. Work hard, everyday.
Paul and Marty

Thunderhoops Basketball Shooting Camp is in its 27th year of operation and is one of the largest basketball day camps in Ontario. In its 27 years, Thunderhoops has grown from a one week camp of 60 campers to a camp of three weeks, accommodating 600 campers. Thunderhoops is in its second generation of campers. Campers, who attended in the early days, are now bringing their children to Thunderhoops. How cool is that?! Thunderhoops has sold out the last 20 years in a row. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Thunderhoops’ diversified program caters to the needs of all players. Paul and Marty have developed what they feel is the most efficient method of teaching young people how to shoot the basketball, and how to put them in a position to score. Improving the camper’s confidence and self-esteem happens naturally through the programming at Thunderhoops. Thunderhoops has taught over 9500 campers over the past 26 years.
Coach McCrone and Coach Hopper were honoured in 2001 by the City of Orillia for their contribution to City Basketball programs. The Barrie Royals Basketball Association presented the pair with the prestigious “Kort” award, for their outstanding contribution to basketball in the City of Barrie.

Both our children came home from camp every day and showed us, on the driveway, what they learned at Thunderhoops that day. Their confidence level has increased dramatically.
The real value of team sports is in the opportunity to learn life skills which prepares each participant for the demands of adult life. I thank you sincerely for providing this opportunity for so many kids during their formative years.
Thank you for being such a positive force in our son’s life, and all the Thunderhoops family’s lives.
I wish to extend to you and your staff our sincere appreciation for a fantastic basketball camp experience. Connor has grown through our approaches to teaching basketball skills and the values of being a good team player. In particular, the variety of activities balancing learning with fun maximized the objectives as proposed in your brochure. There was an excellent opportunity to meet new friends in a team setting.
My neighbour told us about the camp. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before. What a first class operation. My kids will be back again next year with more of their friends. I just wish I had known of Thunderhoops before now.
My daughter has never woken up happy before 8am (unless it’s Christmas, her birthday or a special day) so this is a first.
